Property Description

Drift Hill is a rare stand-alone property in Thredbo Village, featuring high quality construction after being completely gutted and rebuilt with improved structural elements in steel for strength and rigidity to vastly improve the original Casbak construction.  The property overlooks heritage listed properties such as The Seidler Lodge and has a creek running down the side of the tiered garden with dry stack walls and sleeper stairs.  A family of lyrebirds are often scratching around the home and can be seen in winter as well as deer, possums, sugar gliders, wallabies and kangaroos.

This bespoke home is totally ready to rent, and for you to luxuriate in a featured filled custom Thredbo home.
Upon arrival, at car park level, there are two car spaces in tandem, plus a secure bike locker with the new addition being made with galvanised steel mesh allowing the snow to fall through.

Before you even enter there is a level of anticipation with the large solid timber slab seat outside the door, this is a piece of reclaimed wood of Pier 26 from Darling Harbour.
The galvanised steel mesh stairs on the exterior ensure no snow shovelling to be required. With a roomy sophisticated ground floor entrance features security lighting, mud/ski room,  full marble laundry facilities with a TV, with plenty of room plus large ski gear storage, clothing storage, heated floors, and ‘boot-removing’ seat – ideal for dealing with ski and bike gear after a big day on the mountain.

The home’s first level can be reached internally or via a second entrance, at which there is an extra external storage cupboard for lots of sporting gear and tool storage.
This self-contained suite level contains an office (bedroom 2) with King bed includes Vintage Italian velvet curtains and blinds.  Another marble bathroom with heated floor, glass shower, heated towel rail, Hans Grohe fittings, the vanity being a converted antique with marble top and gorgeous antique ‘baroque’ touch in the light fittings and mirror.  With even more walk in storage and cupboards you will have plenty of room to close off as an owner’s lock up.

On the third level – a magnificent open plan split level living, with lounge, kitchen and dining area opening to expansive north facing inviting balcony with built-in hard plumbed BBQ and great mountain views.   With the Adirondack chairs, an afternoon with friends is a must.

The lounge features a lovely Escea gas fireplace that is one of the top energy efficient fireplaces in Australia and is connected to the internet to allow it to be turned on from your phone on an app.  No cold arrivals!

With two large King lounges covered in a soft grey wool finish, they are enough to lounge on all day long.  With both blinds and exceptional linen curtains with built in pelmets, this home is energy efficient for both cold and warm weather. The bookshelf is again made from reclaimed wood and sits on one side of the fireplace, the other side of the fireplace is our favourite area, a quiet corner reading nook where you can snuggle up and watch the skiers come down the mountain and listen to the birds as they forage for food.

This level features kitchen with magnificent island bench topped  with Carrera Staturia marble, new recycled wood flooring, carefully designed storage with roomy corner storage cupboard, coffee machine, latest Electrolux 90cm Induction cooktop, Electrolux Pyrolux oven, built in Electrolux convection microwave, built in Miele dishwasher and built in Liebherr Fridge freezer, large pantry, and under seat storage in dining area with stylish vintage architect’s drawing table, and roomy lounge area perfect for taking in the extensive mountain views and enjoying apres ski.

Expectations are surpassed with the roomy master bedroom suite on the top level, the panoramic views from here are from one end of the valley to the other.   With a marble ensuite bathroom and walk through wardrobe, this bedroom has extraordinary views of the main ski run, this is truly a private paradise.
With a host of features, including reverse cycle air-conditioning for year round comfort, stylish concrete light fittings for ‘balanced’ décor, ‘Ralph Lauren’ linen blockout curtains are opened and closed with remote control, and hidden seasonal storage within main wardrobe. A clever acoustically private draw velvet curtain at top of stairs ensures an early bedtime after a long day on the mountain won’t be disturbed.

A timeless ensuite bathroom has all the same inclusions as downstairs bathroom with ‘Calacutta Oro Extra’ marble top on a bespoke vanity, gorgeous styling touches, heated floors, IXL Tastic Neo and heated towel rail.

Smart TV’s are installed throughout the home, and all are connected to the in-house Foxtel system and WIFI.

As noted this home was extensively renovated by the current owner, below are just some of the items included or changed.

Re-claimed wood flooring is featured throughout – from Thor’s Hammer in ACT, a joinery, sawmill and recycled timber yard based at the Old Brickworks, the wood is sourced from old Metters factory, Pier 26 at Darling Harbour, and other old factories.

The whole house has been extensively insulated, and fitted with all new argon filled double glazed and some windows are treated with UV film providing extra privacy including both entry doors. filmed windows for energy efficient winter heat retention and summer UV prevention including fire rated fly screens.  All lighting internal and external are new OSRAM LED efficient lighting, and the new internal power board has included surge arrester.

The window coverings throughout are enclosed in pelmets for high EER thermal efficiency, and include high quality linen or vintage velvet curtains, and there are USB ports in various scattered power points.

The Hot water system is a Rinnai “Enviro Infinity 32”, super-efficient and boxed to prevent freezing with heat trace fitted.  A water filtration system is fitted for drinking healthier water with both a large filter and UV filter, cost savings, and reduce plumbing issues.

This property is truly one of the most beautifully detailed ski homes in Thredbo, and will suit the most discerning purchaser – we highly recommend an inspection.
